Work

Here's what I've built so far. Each piece is labeled for what it is: my own site, a concept, or an app or tool I made. The purchase-order example is a sample with made-up names and numbers.

My own site

Mike Praska Travel

The website for my own travel business. It explains who I am and the trips I plan, and gives travelers a simple way to get in touch.

Concept

Concept advisor site

A sample website for a made-up travel advisor. It is a concept to show the work, not a client project.

The scorekeeper setup screen on a phone, asking how many players there are and their names.

Web app · Released

Card-game scorekeeper

A card-game scorekeeper, released as a web app, with an iPhone version in development.

A sample PO Summary sheet with made-up data: five purchase orders whose subtotals add up to the invoice total, with a difference of 0.00.

Tool · Sample data

Purchase-order converter

A desktop tool that reads a supplier invoice, groups its lines by purchase order, checks them against the invoice total and shipping codes, and saves a spreadsheet ready to review.

The problem

A long supplier invoice can mix lines for many purchase orders. Sorting them out by hand is slow, and a single missed line throws the totals off.

What it does

  • Reads every page of the invoice and groups each line under its purchase order, even when an order is split across pages.
  • Reads the shipping code that comes with each purchase-order number, so lines shipped different ways still land under the right order.
  • Checks each line: quantity times unit price against the printed amount.
  • Adds up each purchase order and checks the total against the invoice total, to the cent.
  • Lists anything that needs a person to look at it, instead of guessing.

What you get

A spreadsheet with three sheets: a summary by purchase order, every line in detail, and a list of exceptions. The sheet shown here is a sample with made-up names and numbers.
